morning at the pond

walking
along the path
on a brilliant
morning
absorbing
the coolness
of the shade.

a fine day

the day started with rain,
sunshine won,
bread was baked for lunch,
i made
homemade potato chips
(i'll never buy and eat
an entire bag of chips
again).
guacamole added colour
and spice to
the lunch table.
a coffee break completed
the sunny afternoon.

friday

a perfect day
for work avoidance,
visited the new shop,
phantastic,
i do want that roadster,
and many other things there.
we stopped in at my favourite
café, and had a lavender brownie.
it
can't be helped,
another cookbook was purchased.
wishing
everyone a wonderful
weekend.

slugs and hostas

so far, no holes in the hosta leaves,
the slug watch is on,
not that i ever see them,
and if i did,
what would i do?
crush them? no, i don't
think so.
transport them to the
neighbour's garden?
not an option.
watch the holes
appear...

another new shop

a new shop will be opening
in a few days.
looks like an offering of
refurbished old items,
not sure about
wanting a pheasant.
i liked the kettle
in another
shop window.
this shop makes tables
from reclaimed
floorboards.

practical matters

a new friend
in the kitchen
alice
the stand mixer.
she came with a dough
hook,
and what a difference
in baking results.
wonderful fresh buns
for lunch.
this is the beginning
of a baking challenge.
particularly challenging
to start baking
in the heat of
summer.
