the neighbourhood,

there is nothing better than a brisk walk along the

shore of the lake. a stop for coffee is always welcome.

the biscuit was rather unfortunate looking but tasty.

walnut date bread

anything with walnuts tempts me. i found this recipe

in the november (the last) issue of gourmet. it is easy

to make and delicious. perfect for breakfast or with

tea. there are other recipes i am keen to try. i will

miss the magazine very much.

developments are being built on arable land.

this should be stopped. where is the food going

to come from in the future?

a farmer's market is held.

since it was late in the season there was less variety.

i love apples, and was happy to find

cox's orange pippins a variety not widely

available here.

after viewing all that produce a lunch at

a bakery café was needed.

on the road

on the road this past weekend,

hastily consumed veggie wraps

at a small town café,

the weather was crisp and gloriously

autumnal,

a good excuse to take the scenic route

that included a short but lovely ferry ride.

back to the new shop

a lovely independently owned store,

locally made light fixtures, specially ordered

wallpaper, furniture refinished by the owner,

an attentive assistant. the owner's red shoes

on the mannequin to give the display a finishing

touch. many interesting clothes and accessories.

if only that perfect skirt fit me...

i will be back many times no doubt.

another café

my second favourite café was too busy,

we went to a café new to us.

it was rather chilly for sitting outside.

we had a cappuccino and a latté,

very cozy

on a blustery day.

an opportunity to give thanks,

and gather with family and friends.
