autumn colour

the weather has been changeable, cool, rainy,

windy with a few bursts of sun for good measure.

some colour is needed.

this is an intriguing shop window,

my favourite,

it hasn't changed since i can remember,

there is a story no doubt.

vegetables were sold here,

the shop is in the middle of a residential block,

it is enclosed by a high fence.

it is one of those it has been there forever places

that captivates my imagination.

tea and remembrances

arranging to meet for tea takes weeks to arrive at a

suitable date for all.

tea becomes an occasion.

from the back of cupboards out come the inherited

rarely used tea things,

china, linen and silver from different women, traditions

and decades, all on the table.

tea, empire biscuits, remembrances, friends and laughter...

vacation trailer

on display at the arts festival was this rather tired

airstream trailer. children especially liked it, a perfect

playhouse. the keep calm poster is suffering from

severe over exposure.

i love september

plum cake

plum cake, maybe not the most photogenic cake,

but very tasty. a good way to enjoy those beautiful

blue plums. the recipe is from ina garten's

barefoot in paris book. excellent.

festival, faces, feet and fire

i attended a very busy arts festival, art, music,

entertainers, vendors, activities for all.

however this is what caught my attention: faces,

dancing feet and a fire (a quick response by the

fire department and thankfully no injuries).

local produce

the blue plums; bartlett pears; coronation grapes

(seedless and bursting with flavour); beets and the

ingredients for another pizza came from no further

than 95 km. there is so much beautiful produce all locally

grown. In the winter it becomes more of a challenge to

find locally grown food.
