in the depth of winter,

i finally learned that within me

i like to collect leaves,

seed pods, feathers,

branches and especially

while on the beach,

interesting pebbles and

rocks.

i decided this spring

my collection will be

returned to the beach

where rocks and

pebbles belong.

is a good way to remedy

the february blahs,

the guest cook

made these cute

little baked doughnuts.

they are easy to make and

disappear rather quickly.

i am off to bake another

batch now,

then a walk...

new cafe

a cafe opened ten days ago,

as soon as i heard,

like a moth to a flame,

i fluttered over.

the owner and the resident baker

transformed what was once a tired

and dark coffee shop into a warm and

inviting neighbourhood cafe

offering good food and baking.

there was a photography exhibit

brightening the walls,

art exhibits will be an ongoing

feature. for lunch i ordered a

most satisfying panini followed by

a delicious cookie and excellent

coffee. i was very pleased with

my visit, the atmosphere was

friendly and comfortable.

okay, i really liked the place.

this wonderful little cafe already

has busy take away activity.

my only fear is that it will become

too popular. i'll just have to elbow my

way in...

brilliantly cold

a crunchy crisp day,

too cold to take photos,

warmer temperatures

are promised.

i look forward to

more of a relaxed

winter cold.

(slightly over baked, my fault),

my morning coffee and the new

anthropologie catalogue,

i want those boots.
